To address the issue of in-car air pollution, the State Administration for Market Regulation recently issued the "Technical Specifications for Environmental Safety of Automotive Interior Materials (Trial)," which explicitly require that commonly used carpet-like accessories, such as floor mats, pass formaldehyde and TVOC (total volatile organic compound) emission tests. This has led to the rapid launch of a number of "healthy all-around leather floor mats" using environmentally friendly water-based glue and vegetable-tanned leather.

A brand's R&D manager explained, "We use a food-grade TPR base layer and vegetable-tanned top-grain leather to eliminate the release of harmful substances at the source. Testing has shown a 90% increase in in-car air quality compliance." Following the product's launch, consumer repurchase rates have significantly increased compared to traditional PVC or recycled leather floor mats.

The industry is calling for the establishment of an environmental certification system for floor mats to eliminate the "invisible health hazards" associated with inferior glue and recycled materials, ensuring that all-around floor mats truly protect a "healthy cabin."
